The quality of life for neighborhood residents will be significantly improved by the creation and restoration of more than 30 hectares of public space and nearby services.

Euroméditerranée wants to make sure that the public spaces offer views of the sea: Esplanade de la MajorPlace de la JoliettePlace de la MéditerranéeBoulevard du Littoral and the J4 esplanade...

This is why, pending the final design of the J4 Esplanade, temporary structures have been put in place to allow residents to access the sea.

The landscaping of the coastal boulevard will create a large, high-quality public space between the city and the port, featuring wider sidewalks, trees and bicycle paths.

On the Esplanade de la Major, landscaping will create green spaces (138 trees planted), pedestrian-only areas, playgrounds, recreation areas and lighting that is suited to the architecture.

While creating access to the water and adding green spaces, businesses and educational buildings will maintain or improve urban density and create links among  key points in the new downtown Marseilles. These efforts will be complemented by numerous parking facilities, tunnels, and the reconfiguration of the highway infrastructure to ease traffic congestion in the area.
