Rue de la République
Euroméditerranée’s core project, this main residential and commercial artery is part of the largest urban rehabilitation project in France. The entire street was renovated from façade to façade. The pavements were widened, 200 trees planted and new street furniture installed.
Restored façades
The buildings were given a face lift closely following the recommendations applied to historical monuments, with special care being taken in the authentic restoration of the Hausmannian façades.
Rue de la République came under an Opération Programmée d'Amélioration de l'Habitat (O.P.A.H) covering 5,200 housing units, including 2,500 privately owned units.
A central location
Located near to the stations of two underground lines, access to rue de la République has improved since 2007, with the commissioning of the tramway line la Blancarde - Euroméditerranée Gantes.
This artery linking the Vieux-Port to the new Joliette district is a central route between the historical centre of Marseilles and the emerging business and tourist sector.
Car parks were built and 120,000 m² retail surfaces rebuilt.
Shop and ride
Leading national and international brands such as H&M, Mango, Starbucks, Sephora, Celio, Jules, Desigual, Sophie Ferjani or even Le Temps des Cerises can today be found on rue de la République.
