These works link boulevards d'Athènes and Voltaire to the Northern motorway. The objective is to lighten traffic above ground, to improve inter-district pedestrian walkways and to facilitate access to the transport hub.
It ensures the transit of light vehicles (heavy goods vehicles are prohibited) from the south to the north, and enables motorists to leave Marseilles with greater ease.
In service since 2005, it has two entrances on the boulevards d'Athènes and Voltaire, with one traffic lane each. The two sections join under the station’s monumental steps, merging into a two-lane route.
