CMA CGM tower

tour architecture cma cgm

It is the architect Zaha Hadid who was selected to design the new head office of the world’s third largest container sea transport group, CMA-CGM, in Marseille-Euroméditerranée, further to an international consultation launched in October 2004. She won the 2004 Pritzker architecture award.

Deconstructivist architect, her style is characterised by a partiality for curvilinearity, acute angles, overlapping plans, lending complexity and airiness to her creations. She also participated in an international competition for the Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée in Marseilles, on the J4 esplanade within the perimeter of the Cité de la Méditerranée.

The choice of this great name in world architecture marked a new step in the architectural ambition set in motion by Euroméditerranée for the outreach of the town of Marseilles.

The CMA-CGM tower, which resembles a ship’s prow, is the highest in the town, at 147 m.
