Villa Méditerranée
The building located on the J4 esplanade is designed in the shape of a C, with the specific feature being that its lower part cannot be seen since it is underwater. La Villa Méditerranée is divided into 3 areas, bringing together public reception and event areas with services such as cafés, restaurants, shops, auditoriums and exhibition rooms etc. The immersed part includes a 1,825 m² central square with 800 m² exhibition area, 260 m² space for development, a 400-seat amphitheatre with translation booths and two meeting rooms.
La Villa Méditerranée aims to become one of the preferred sites for hosting multilateral summits on Mediterranean cooperation. This ambition enters into the AViTeM’s mission, the purpose of which is to set up a programme for experience sharing, expertise, training and cooperation. The aim is to promote integrated and exemplary urban and territorial development approaches in the Mediterranean basin.
The Villa Méditerranée’s missions include monitoring and analysis the main challenges of inter-Mediterranean relations, Mediterranean policies in particular, the impact of conflicts, of political and social and cultural phenomena, the main phenomena being religious movements. It intends to bring together the best specialists, researchers, analysts and stakeholders, but also public decision-makers, in order to contribute to the critical analysis of requirements and the priority actions to be taken in terms of Mediterranean policy.
