Les quais d’Arenc
On the site of the old Transcausse warehouse, an ambitious project is taking shape, combining offices, housing units, shops and car parks (900-space car park). Jean Nouvel will build an office tower (135 m), Jean Baptiste Pietri an apartment tower (99 m) and Roland Carta an office building.
Between these buildings on the Quais d'Arenc, a “strip”, a genuine interior thoroughfare will be built, lit night and day like a grand avenue, bordered by shops, and of which the architectural works will recall those of the sea front quay. The transparent ground floor in each building opens the view under the motorway flyovers onto the port, the sea and its boats.
This interior thoroughfare will lead onto boulevard Euroméditerranée and the CMA CGM tower, forming the natural extension of Euromed Center, of place Henry Verneuil, the rue des Docks, the rue de la République and lastly the Vieux-Port.
This project is part of a sustainable development approach, especially through HQE certification.
On 30 September 2014, Cofely (GDF Suez group) signed an agreement for the creation of a marine energy conversion plant on the Arenc mole with promoters (Constructa), investors (Foncière des Régions) and EPA Euroméditerranée. The towers will thus be connected to this new unit which will supply both cold and heat. This 100% natural solution will provide for energy savings.
